Sony Ericsson does Xperia arc

by Edwin
Sony Ericsson decided that they will no longer release smartphones that are far behind in terms of OS updates compared to the rest of the mobile manufacturers, hence their latest addition to the Xperia family – the Xperia arc. This is one handset that will definitely stun you whenever you take a look at it, running on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. First unveiled at the recently concluded CES 2011, it is the first of a new generation of Xperia smartphones, so you can be sure that there will be more to come!

Motorola Xoom nabs best in show at CES

by James

Named Best of CES, the Motorola Xoom brings dual core power to tablet PCs.
It seems that the impact of the iPad has really been felt as this year, CES was more about tablet computing than anything else. So much so that an Android Tablet that isn’t even ready yet nabbed the coveted honor of BEST OF CES at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Running the new, custom built from the ground up, Android 3 Honeycomb OS, the Motorola Xoom is touted as the number one competitor to the upcoming iPad 2, according to SlashGear. But with other competitors like the Blackberry Playbook Tablet and a host of others, the market is now filled with budding iPad killers.

Vault Xbox 360 armor from Calibur11 at CES 2011

by Mark R
You get to see a lot of cool things at CES, some from companies you know and trust, and some that are brand new. This looks to be the case for Calibur11.
Their Vault collection appears to be some sort of protective armor for an XBox 360. Just imagine if you had to send your XBox 360 to play hockey, then this is what you would want to send it out in.
On closer inspection of their catalog, I believe that Cailbur11 wants their Vault series to be more than just for protection, perhaps even decoration. The picture that you see here is the MLG edition, and it has its “game face” on. I believe that the MLG is an abbreviation for Major League Gamer, and it shows, doesn’t it?

ViewSonic ViewPad 4 Android-powered handset

by Edwin
ViewSonic will be rolling out the ViewPad 4 Android-powered handset in due time, although they decided to use the CES platform to announce its presence. Running inside would be Qualcomm’s 1GHz MSM8255 processor that ties everything together, including a 4.1-inch WVGA display, a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera with 720p video recording capability, GPS support, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity and HDMI out, just in case you want to show off the latest high definition videos on the big screen. There is also a 3-megapixel front-facing camera that paves the way for video calls if you want to, now all you need is a decent data plan that won’t break the bank. As for pricing, expect to fork out anywhere up to $549 for an unlocked model, but the amount of subsidies are largely carrier-dependent as it ships sometime in the middle of this year onwards.

CES 2011

by Mark R
I saw this watch from shoe giant Nike last night at the CES 2011 event Pepcom. The Nike+SportsWatch GPS uses the Nike+ sensor based in the shoe for tracking time, pace, distance, calories burned as well as heart rate.
It also has something else: a GPS powered by TomTom. This allows the watch to track “what a user does, how they do it, and then motivates the user to improve on previous performances over the each route”. After the user is completed with their run or other exercises, they can take off their watch and connect it to a PC with the built-in USB dongle. From there, data is uploaded to the NikePlus.com site for viewing of completed runs, setting new goals, as well as interacting with other runners.
